Types and Models of Polaroid Digital Cameras

The Executive Summary about Polaroid Digital Camera by Russ Snapper

The type of camera with self-developing film is known as instant camera. Polaroid Corporation makes the famous Polaroid cameras.

Based on the type of film used, Polaroid cameras can be classified. The older Polaroids used instant film roll. Roll films were of two types: Positive or developing agent and negative. Pack film was later used in cameras, in which the photographer has to pull the film from the camera for developing and subsequently the positive and the negative have to be peeled separately while developing. This Pack film was available initially in a rectangular format and later in square format. Subsequent Polaroids such as the once famous SX-70 model utilized a square format integral film, which had the developer, negative, fixer etc in the same film. Polaroid digital cameras are now available in various types. The m635P model from Polaroid Corporation was designed solely for promotion of breast cancer research. Polaroid Corporation along with actress Elizabeth Hurley initiated to offer a combined donation of $60,000 for the above Research foundation in the year 2006. Pink, light pink and magenta models of Polaroid digital cameras were launched especially for the above good cause and awareness.

One more noted achievement from Polaroid is the launch of the ION digital camera which combines high-end features and is easy to use. This ION digital camera has an on-board memory of 8MB and is light and compact, suitable for traveling people. Other features of this ION digital camera include automatic white balance with auto exposure, a 10-second electronic timer, the capacity to capture AVI video clips along with audio like a web cam, 640 x 460 pixel resolution, Arc Soft software on DVD, two AAA batteries and a USB cable.

Another great model from Polaroid is PDC 4355, which has glass lenses of high quality for Zoom and normal, 4.2 MP resolutions, 3x Optical Zoom and a fast CCD sensor. This is a good camera for photographers for point and shoot simplicity coupled with great optical performance. In the 3x optical and 4x digital zoom modes, the glass lens system permits for exposures for distances of 15 centimeters to infinity and has three modes for image quality and video clip functions.

This Polaroid digital camera has other features such as macro mode, auto focus, Inbuilt flash having the on, off and red eye and auto modes. The PDC 4355 model has an Inbuilt flash memory of 16 MB to store your video clips and pictures, later expandable up to 256MB with any available Secure Digital card. This camera also supports Print Image Matching feature that has the ability to have the camera and mode settings along with the images recorded.

You can easily upload the images to your computer through an USB cable by using the software ‘Photo Impression 5.0′. This handy camera allows you to take pictures within a few minutes of receiving and is powered by two AA batteries.

Polaroid Digital Camera Problems You Should Know About Before You Buy

The Executive Summary about Polaroid Digital Camera by Chris Campbell

Polaroid digital camera problems have overwhelmed consumers and the manufacturer. The Polaroid a520M was a camera that Polaroid probably wishes they never released to the public. This camera had underexposed images when you were not using the flash. The list goes on with this particular camera. There were a few positive things about the camera, but not enough for Polaroid to keep the camera on the shelf.

Then came the Polaroid digital camera problems with the x530. A Hong Kong company under the Polaroid name produced the camera and the image quality was deplorable. Consumers were quick to judge this particular camera. Digital cameras are not easy to make, but if you do not use the technology available, you will have problems and dissatisfied customers. This camera was also recalled and pulled from the store shelf. Anyone that had this camera was issued a refund. Next, Polaroid produced the awkward looking PDC-3000. This camera was not only awkward looking it delivered poor picture quality.

When looking for today’s digital cameras, one has to practice scanning and comparing reviews and specifications on all digital cameras. Even companies with a unique reputation in photography can produce a camera that will not make it the world of photography. Polaroid digital camera problems are long and drawn out. The digital cameras mentioned have since been taken off the shelves, but you still need to read any reviews of other cameras to see if it is what you need. Always compare digital cameras with a checklist to see what camera will be the best for your needs.

New OPTURA Breaks Boundaries between Digital Motion and Still Imaging - Captures High Speed Subjects Undetectable to the Human Eye -

Canon U.S.A., Inc., the leader in optical imaging technology, today introduced the OPTURA, the world’s first hybrid digital video (DV) camcorder with design and performance features previously limited to 35mm SLR cameras. The Optura harnesses the power, connectivity and superior resolution of the mini digital video format while integrating Canon’s design and technology expertise in the video and 35mm SLR camera product categories.

In addition to recording full motion video and audio digitally, the Optura captures still images undetectable to the human eye. Using an exclusive Progressive Scan Movie mode which acts as a digital motor drive, the Optura records high resolution still images of fast moving subjects at a rate of 30 frames per second (fps) - three times faster than the motor drive of a professional 35mm camera.

“The Optura marks Canon’s first entry into the DV camcorder market on a worldwide basis,” said Mr. Yukiaki Hashimoto, director and general manager, Canon Video Division. “We have integrated Canon’s many years of expertise as both a video camcorder and 35mm SLR camera manufacturer to develop a new and powerful digital imaging hybrid with extraordinary image capture and output potential. This product will offer unmatched versatility to meet a wide variety of still, motion and multimedia image capture needs of both business professionals and consumers.”

Optura’s Progressive Scan CCD Image Sensor & RGB Color Filter Rival Image Quality of Professional 3-CCD DV Camcorders

The Optura is the world’s first digital video camcorder to incorporate a Progressive Scan CCD image sensor which delivers high quality, full motion video and sharp still frame digital photographs. The Progressive Scan CCD reads each of its 360,000 effective pixels in a single scan to capture a full frame image every 1/60 of a second. This process achieves superior resolution and enables users to capture vivid, high quality still images of high speed action for TV display, computer input or digital photo prints. In contrast, other DV and analog camcorders use an Interlace Scan CCD which processes field images or half the scan lines every 1/60 of a second. This results in diminished still image quality since the CCD is only creating half a frame of information at a time.

Canon’s proprietary integrated circuits work in conjunction with the Progressive Scan CCD to process and selectively combine scan lines from the frames according to the recording mode: Progressive Scan Movie mode, Photo mode or Normal Movie mode.

The Progressive Scan CCD is complemented by a RGB primary color filter, rather than a complementary color filter found in other camcorders. The combination of this primary color filter with a Progressive Scan CCD achieves color resolution comparable to that of 3-CCD systems. The RGB primary color filter improves the reproduction of subtle intermediate gradations, making colors in still images more uniform.

Optura’s Versatile Recording Modes and Uses Define New Digital Imaging Hybrid

The Canon Optura distinguishes itself from all other digital video and still imaging products through its unique image processing and recording options. The Optura’s unique recording modes and IEEE 1394 digital connector are designed to suit a multitude of sophisticated imaging and computer application needs including, digital motion video, still image and multimedia capture? All in one unit.

– Progressive Scan Movie mode: This exclusive Canon feature acts as a digital motor drive recording images three times faster than the motor drive of a professional 35mm camera. Users will capture the most intriguing, high resolution still images occurring within action - and previously undetectable to the human eye — by employing a Progressive Scan CCD and two new proprietary integrated circuits.

The Progressive Scan Movie mode allows users to record high speed action for the purpose of extracting high resolution, full frame images. These images may be displayed on TV, computer or output to a printer.

In contrast, the Interlace Scan system, common to other DV and analog camcorders, creates a frame image by using two opposing fields. This process creates a time lapse, causing image flicker during playback which makes printing high quality stills impractical. — Photo mode: This recording mode further distinguishes the product as a hybrid DV camcorder by transforming the Optura into a virtual digital SLR camera. In Photo mode consumers may record in full auto mode, so the camera will set exposure and shutter speed automatically. Users also have to ability control shutter speed manually by selecting “shutter priority” on the programmed AE dial. Similarly, aperture may also be manually adjusted by selecting “aperture priority” on the same dial.

Comparing the Canon Digital EOS XT And EOS 20D

by Mike Selvon

Canon EOS digital cameras may not have been around that long, but the company that makes them has been a leader in the production of cameras for many, many years. The Canon Company was founded in Japan in 1933.

The name Canon was chosen because it implies precision. The new Canon EOS digital cameras are very precise and some of the best on the market today. The only problem that most consumers will encounter will be whether to choose the Rebel XT or the EOS 20D.

Many things are alike when dealing with these two types of the Canon EOS digital camera. Both cameras have flash exposure compensation which basically means that the operator can adjust the exposure by telling the camera to allow more or less light in.

One positive, for even a beginner in photography, is that both types of cameras can print directly to compatible printers. This will allow for ease in photo sharing with family and friends and will also help in cutting the cost of photography printing that can be so expensive at a film developer. So many options are alike on both cameras; too many exist to list them all.

Since these two cameras are alike in so many ways, their differences may be the key when choosing between these two types of Canon EOS digital cameras. Size may play a factor when choosing a camera to fit the needs of an individual. The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT is smaller than the EOS 20D. Another thing that is different is the outward appearance of the two cameras.

The Rebel XT comes in a silver finish. Some lovers of the Canon EOS Digital cameras may not like this deviation from the basic Canon camera. Another appearance issue is that the LCD of the Rebel is on the back of the camera where the EOS 20D display is on top of the camera.
